Preparations for the 2025 MotoGP season began this Tuesday with the official test day in Barcelona. For three riders, it marked their first contact with the premier class: Ai Ogura, Fermín Aldeguer, and Somkiat Chantra.

The fastest of the three was Aldeguer. The Spaniard from Gresini rode the Ducati Desmosedici GP for the first time, setting the 20th fastest time, 1.761s behind leader and teammate Álex Márquez. Aldeguer completed 58 laps.

Next, in 21st, was Ogura. The Moto2 champion moves up to MotoGP with Trackhouse Racing and was the busiest rider on this test day, completing 86 laps. His best lap was a 1m40.946s.

The other rookie was Chantra. The first Thai rider to compete in the premier class is with LCR Honda and completed 61 laps throughout the day. He finished 23rd, the last of the regular riders, 0.270s behind Jack Miller (Prima Pramac Yamaha), who was directly ahead of him. Behind Chantra was only Lorenzo Savadori, Aprilia’s test rider.
