The big news of road racing is finally out—2024 Senior TT winner Davey Todd will join forces with 14-time TT race winner Peter Hickman in a factory-backed BMW team for the 2025 Isle of Man TT. Todd, who clinched his TT success with the BMW-supported Milwaukee team, now steps up to the factory lineup, replacing Australian double British Superbike champion Josh Brookes.
This dynamic pairing brings a new level of firepower to FHO Racing BMW, mirroring Ducati’s MotoGP strategy by pairing its established superstar (Hickman) with a rising star (Todd) from a private team. For BMW, this move signals a clear intent: to reclaim dominance on the treacherous Isle of Man course, especially after Hickman faced stiff competition from Todd and the record-breaking Michael Dunlop at this year’s TT.
Todd, excited to team up with his friend and competitor Hickman, sees only upside in the partnership. “Being alongside Pete can only make us both faster and stronger as we’ll share data, improve each other’s strengths, and limit our weaknesses,” Todd said. “BMW wanted us together, and we’re aiming to be the dominant force.”
BMW’s recent commitment to the Isle of Man TT has paid off, with Hickman achieving multiple superbike wins for the brand. Now, with Todd added to the roster, BMW’s investment in TT racing solidifies its position as a top-tier factory player in the event. Both riders will also commit to a full season in the British Superbike Championship, using the series as a testing ground to refine their techniques ahead of the TT in June.
The announcement puts BMW head-to-head with other factory teams, including Honda Racing, which recently confirmed TT legend John McGuinness and three-time winner Dean Harrison in its lineup.
