Turkish rider Toprak Razgatlioglu, riding for the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team, memorably clinched the 2024 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship title at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto, doing so by breaking records and making history as BMW’s first-ever riders’ champion. This is an analysis of the numbers that marked Razgatlioglu’s historic campaign, which saw him become a two-time world champion.

248: The undisputed race leader Razgatlioglu led 248 laps throughout the season, equivalent to 41.8% of all laps completed, even after missing two rounds due to injury. By comparison, Nicolo Bulega, his main rival, only led 127 laps. Only these two riders managed to lead more than 100 laps in 2024, demonstrating the Turk’s absolute dominance.

92-79: The margin over second place Razgatlioglu’s lead over the second-placed rider reached 92 points after the Portimão round. However, the injury that temporarily sidelined him caused him to lose 79 points. Despite this, the Turk regained ground and finished the season 43 points ahead of Bulega, comfortably securing the title.

90%: Consistent podium presence Throughout the 30 races of the season, Razgatlioglu stepped onto the podium on 27 occasions, representing an impressive 90% – an absolute record for any manufacturer, except for Mick Doohan’s exceptional record with Yamaha.

60%: Historic win rate Razgatlioglu’s performance in 2024 also set a new standard for wins, with a 60% win rate. The rider won 18 of the races he contested, consolidating his dominance as the biggest winner of the season and contributing to BMW’s historic success. 18 of 32 wins and 6 of 12 poles Razgatlioglu’s presence at BMW proved crucial, with the rider being responsible for more than half of the brand’s wins in the history of WorldSBK (18 out of 32) and half of its poles (6 out of 12).

13 consecutive wins: A new record Before a crash at Magny-Cours, Razgatlioglu achieved 13 consecutive wins, surpassing the previous record of 11 wins, held by Álvaro Bautista and Jonathan Rea. This feat underlines the Turkish rider’s consistency and skill throughout the season.

The 11th two-time champion in history Razgatlioglu joins the select group of two-time champions in WorldSBK, alongside names like Jonathan Rea, Carl Fogarty and Troy Bayliss, further solidifying his name in the sport’s history.

An unprecedented title for BMW With Razgatlioglu’s victory, BMW becomes the seventh manufacturer to win the Riders’ Championship in WorldSBK, alongside legendary brands such as Ducati, Kawasaki and Honda. This is the first title for the German brand, and proof that the combination of Razgatlioglu and BMW has proven fruitful.
