Yari Montella and Adrián Huertas were the standout performers at the World Supersport Championship in Aragon this weekend, each winning one race. In the championship standings, Huertas is increasingly the leader.

Race 1: Montella triumphs in an exciting race at Aragon

The first WSSP race was a stage for an exciting battle, with Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) taking the victory. The Italian overcame a troubled start, where he lost positions after running off the track, to make an impressive recovery.

Stefano Manzi (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing) and Jorge Navarro (Orelac Racing Verdnatura) completed the podium after an intense battle in the final laps. Valentin Debise (Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team) came very close to the podium, finishing in fourth place.

Championship leader Huertas (Aruba.it Racing WorldSSP Team) had a difficult race, finishing fifth and losing important points to his rivals. Can Oncu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) started strong but lost pace in the second half of the race, finishing tenth.

Tom Booth-Amos (PTR Triumph) stood out with a solid sixth place, while Marcel Schroetter, Lucas Mahias, Federico Caricasulo and Glenn van Straalen completed the top 10.

Race 2: Huertas dominates at home and extends lead

In the second race, Adrián Huertas showed why he is the championship leader with a dominant performance. The Spaniard, who had already taken pole position on Friday, gave his rivals no chance, taking his tenth victory of the 2024 season.

Stefano Manzi secured second place, giving Yamaha its 400th podium in the category – a historic milestone for the Japanese manufacturer. Yari Montella, after a promising start, struggled with the pace in the final laps but still managed to hold on to third place.

Valentin Debise repeated fourth place from the previous race, showing consistency. Jorge Navarro and Lucas Mahias completed the top 6, followed by Can Oncu, Federico Caricasulo, Glenn van Straalen and Bahattin Sofuoglu.

With this result, Huertas extended his lead in the championship, now with 359 points. Manzi and Montella are tied for second with 304 points each, promising an exciting battle for the runner-up spot in the next rounds.
