Significant changes are coming to the Superbike paddock in 2026. The World Supersport 300 Championship will come to an end, replaced by a new entry-level category. The designation has yet to be revealed.

WSSP300 was introduced in 2017 and is considered to have ‘fulfilled its mission of providing a sustainable and affordable platform for emerging talents to enter the World Championship’. The new class aims to build on this success while enhancing ‘the sporting and commercial relevance of the entry category’.

The change is justified by several factors. Firstly, there will be a reduction in the performance gap compared to the Supersport World Championship ‘to smoothen the progression path for riders moving up to the larger classes’. Additionally, it aims ‘to attract greater interest from manufacturers by allowing them to showcase machinery that reflects a growing market segment’.

The new category will feature bikes with more powerful, mid-displacement engines. The specifics of the regulations will be defined in the coming months by the SBK Commission.

Thus, the 2025 season will be the last for WSSP300, giving manufacturers and teams time to prepare for the upcoming entry-level class.
