After nearly two decades alongside Ducati, Pramac becomes Yamaha’s new satellite team in an ambitious project with a long-term vision. Miguel Oliveira and Jack Miller will lead the rider line-up.

The partnership was announced in August, and from the outset, two things were clear: Pramac will be treated as an extension of the factory team, receiving the same priority in terms of support and new material; and it would also extend to Moto2.

On Monday, Pramac Yamaha’s entry into the intermediate class was announced, marking an absolute debut for Paolo Campinoti’s structure. This demonstrates the long-term and sustainable vision of the project, also working on the development of young talents.

The Iwata-based manufacturer has been showing signs of a change in mindset. The latest development is the creation of a new V4 engine, moving away from the inline-four concept, as well as the hiring of several top European members, such as the technical director Max Bartolini.

Yamaha’s investment in Pramac is substantial, and so is the ambition. All the ingredients are in place for a successful future, with Miller and Oliveira playing key roles in 2025. The riders will be tasked with contributing to the development of the YZR-M1 and achieving on-track results.

They and the team are also aware that they may not be able to fight on the top immediately: Yamaha has had one of the least competitive bikes, and although improvements are being seen, the road ahead is still long. However, the signs are encouraging, with investment, trust, and ambition in this new project.

Pramac Yamaha will debut in Moto2 with two riders well-acquainted with the category: Tony Arbolino and Izan Guevara have been selected for the 2025 season.

At 24 years old, Arbolino was even speculated to join the MotoGP team but will remain in Moto2, where he was vice-champion in 2023. This year, his results faltered despite it being his third season with Elf Marc VDS and fourth in the championship. Previously, he was Moto3 vice-champion in 2020.

Despite being only 20 years old, Guevara is heading into his third Moto2 season, now experiencing his first stint outside the Aspar team since competing in the FIM CEV Moto3 in 2020. The Spaniard boasts a Moto3 title on his résumé, but his first two Moto2 years were challenging, with his maiden podium coming at the Malaysian GP in early November.

Lin Jarvis, Yamaha’s Managing Director, commented on the rider selection: ‘With Tony Arbolino and Izan Guevara, we have an outstanding rider line-up for the new Moto2 team, combining skills, talent, and potential. We look forward to seeing their journey unfold as we continue building a stronger foundation for Yamaha’s future in MotoGP’.

Pramac Yamaha will compete in Moto2 starting next season. When the MotoGP partnership was announced, it was revealed that this collaboration would extend to the intermediate category, although no specific timeline was provided at the time.

Last week, the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team announced that the Solidarity GP of Barcelona would be their last, making it increasingly clear that Pramac Yamaha’s entry into Moto2 was imminent. This has now been officially confirmed.

The new team will work closely with Yamaha’s bLU cRU program, which focuses on developing young talent. While the bike model Pramac will use has not been disclosed, it is expected to be Kalex.

The team’s two riders for the inaugural season both have Moto2 experience. One side of the garage will feature last year’s runner-up, Tony Arbolino, who debuted in 2021 and is entering his fifth season. On the other side will be Izan Guevara, who has competed in Moto2 since 2023 and achieved his first podium at the Malaysian GP.

The slogan is also new, now reading «Faster, Forward, Fearless», as MotoGP steps into what is being called «The MotoGP of Tomorrow».

In addition to the premier class, the same new branding has been applied to Moto2, Moto3, MotoE, and even MotoGP’s official eSports championship. Everything changes visually.

This radical transformation coincides with the expected acquisition of Dorna by Liberty Media. Take a look at the images of MotoGP’s new visual identity, as well as its explanation, through videos and images.

After images appeared in European patent authorities, the new visual identity and logos of the MotoGP World Championship were officially unveiled this Sunday.

The awards gala at the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya in Barcelona marked the moment of unveiling what will now be the image of the motorcycle racing World Championships moving forward.

This change comes as the acquisition of Dorna by Liberty Media is also underway. The new logo was designed by the Pentagram agency. The visual identity, including the typography, was also altered under the motto «The MotoGP of Tomorrow».

Despite 75 years of history, this is only the third time the MotoGP logo has undergone a radical change. Until 2001, the foundation was the acronym FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme), and the image changed with the introduction of the MotoGP era in 2002 — undergoing minor adjustments in 2007.

Diogo Moreira capped off his rookie Moto2 season in style by achieving his first podium in the category at the Solidarity GP of Barcelona, alongside clinching the rookie of the year title.

Racing for Italtrans Racing Team, the Brazilian steadily climbed the ranks during the race and decisively overtook champion Ai Ogura (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) on the final lap.

While the top two riders were within reach, Moreira ran out of time to challenge them but nonetheless secured his best result of the season, affirming his upward trajectory since the San Marino GP.

Finishing 14th overall in the standings with 80 points, Moreira outpaced fellow rookie Senna Agius (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP/Kalex) by 14 points. Agius ended the championship in 18th position. The South American talent’s performance solidified him as the standout rookie of the Moto2 season.

It was the perfect end of the season for Arón Canet in the Moto2 World Championship. The rider won the Solidarity GP of Barcelona, securing his fourth victory of the year to become the rider with the most wins in the category in 2024.

The Spanish rider from Fantic did not hide his satisfaction, stating during an interview on the official championship website that it had been a season of progress and change:

I’m super happy about my evolution during the year. I did a big step. Until Silverstone, I trained at home to be the best; from Silverstone to here, I trained at home to make the difference. It’s a big change, it’s a big step forward, because in the end you need to train to make the difference – not to win races. Everybody wants to win, but you need to make the difference.

Canet then said: ‘I’m thankful to my team, to everybody, for what they did during the season. I’m the rider with more victories this year. In the previous years I didn’t win here in Moto2, and this is perfect for me’.

Finally, the rider addressed the people of Valencia: ‘Thank you to all the Spaniards who are here. This is for Valencia; a Valencia rider took pole, the grand slam, we won the race. This is for all the people of Valencia’.

Arón Canet emerged victorious in the Moto2 Solidarity GP of Barcelona. This Sunday’s race featured a breathtaking final lap, with the battle for victory and podium positions going down to the wire. The Spaniard edged out Manuel González to become the rider with the most wins this season.

The race began with Canet (Fantic Racing/Kalex) stumbling at the start, while González (Gresini/Kalex) executed a flawless launch to take the lead ahead of Ai Ogura (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) and Filip Salac (Elf Marc VDS/Kalex).

Early drama unfolded on the opening lap as Jorge Navarro (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex) and Jake Dixon (CFMOTO Inde Aspar/Kalex) collided at Turn 5, while Roberto García (Fantic Racing/Kalex) also crashed out.

A heavy crash occurred on the second lap on the way to Turn 1, when Celestino Vietti (Red Bull KTM Ajo/Kalex) and Zonta van den Goorbergh (RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP/Kalex) collided during braking, with both riders having to be taken to the medical center. Deniz Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo/Kalex) and Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team/Kalex) were also involved but were unharmed.

Soon after, Salac overtook Ogura to claim second, only for the Japanese rider to regain the position shortly after. By the third lap, Canet, despite his messy start, had climbed to second. Salac dropped to fifth, overtaken by Fermín Aldeguer (Sync SpeedUp/Boscoscuro). The future Gresini MotoGP rider had to serve a Long Lap penalty on lap 4, knocking him out of the top ten.

At the end of lap 4, Canet overtook González to take the lead. Meanwhile, Senna Agius (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP/Kalex) looked promising in fifth, poised for a potential podium fight, though he eventually lost momentum.

With nine laps to go, a fierce battle for third ensued, with Moreira pressuring Ogura. However, the season’s champion held his ground for several laps. Three laps from the finish, Moreira launched a strong challenge but Ogura managed to maintain third.

Meanwhile, González closed the gap on Canet, reigniting the battle for victory. With Ogura and Moreira not far behind, the fight expanded to a four-way contest.

At the start of the final lap, Moreira finally seized third, only for Ogura to reclaim it near the end. However, the Brazilian snatched it back for good in the last corner. Up front, Canet held off González to win by a slim margin of 0.091s. With his first Moto2 podium, Moreira also clinched the rookie of the year title. Ogura and Salac rounded out the top five.
