The passion and talent of Valerio Lata have found the ideal stage: Team HRC. The 19-year-old Italian has signed a multi-year contract with the team and will be one of the standout names in the MX2 category in 2025. Riding the Honda CRF250R, Lata will have his Italian compatriot Ferruccio Zanchi as his teammate, a lineup that promises to make history in the discipline.

Lata has already proven his potential. In the 2024 season, he stood out by finishing third in the Grand Prix of Italy in Maggiora as a wildcard and fought until the end for the EMX250 European Championship title, winning several races and overall classifications. This performance reinforced the brilliant career of the young rider, which includes titles such as 2019 World Champion in the 85cc class, 2021 European Champion in the 125cc class, and two-time Italian champion.

Team HRC, which relaunched its MX2 program last year with Zanchi as the only rider, saw in Lata the opportunity to give more strength to the project. In 2024, Zanchi showed the competitiveness of the Honda CRF250R, finishing in the top 10 of the championship. Now, with two promising talents on board, the team believes it is better positioned to fight for success in the category and inspire future generations of riders to trust Honda as the path to victory.

Regarding his entry into the team, Lata does not hide his enthusiasm: ‘It is a great honour to be joining Team HRC for the 2025 season, in preparation for what will be my first full-time MX2 season. As a kid, you always know the history of the riders that rode for HRC and it is a privilege to be joining that list now. Last year, they re-started with the Honda CRF250R programme and they had some good results with Ferruccio (Zanchi), so I knew that I would have a good bike and a good setup and now I hope I can help them with even more top results. It is a very professional team who know how to win, and I can’t wait to get started’.

The year 2025 promises to be intense for Team HRC, which will line up with a robust team. In addition to Lata and Zanchi in MX2, the team will feature five-time world champion Tim Gajser and Ruben Fernandez in MXGP. All riders are already in intensive training to face a challenging calendar of 20 rounds in the FIM Motocross World Championship, which starts on March 1 in Cordoba, Argentina.

With a team full of talent and ambition, Honda is preparing to make its presence felt at the top of the classification tables and consolidate its history of success in the discipline.
